A passenger on board a Dubai-bound British Airways passenger jet terrified passengers when he “went berserk” and claimed he had a bomb and that everyone was going to die, according to a top UK radio DJ.

Steve Penk, whose daughter Natalie was aboard the plane, tweeted that five hours after taking off from London’s Heathrow Airport on Tuesday evening, passengers aboard flight BA105 began to be physically assaulted by the man.

“Some guy went berserk on board 5 hours into the flight claiming he had a bomb and everyone was going to die,” Penk wrote on Twitter.

He said the man had to be restrained by a “large passenger” and five members of the plane’s crew.

“They had to handcuff him and then cover him with a blanket,” he wrote. “My daughter Natalie says the guy was literally screaming and shouting he couldn’t breathe. He shouted everyone was going to die.”

Penk said his daughter was “fine but very shaken up” after the incident.

A spokesman for British Airways said: “Our customers and crews deserve to enjoy their flights, and not to suffer any form of abuse. This sort of behaviour will absolutely not be tolerated, and the appropriate action will always be taken.”

Dubai Police was unavailable to comment.
