Man denies kidnapping and molesting teenager

DUBAI // A man kidnapped and molested a teenager after pulling alongside her in his car and asking for directions, a court heard yesterday.

Prosecutors said Sri Lankan LW, 32, pulled alongside the Chinese woman on August 13 this year and asked her to accompany him and show him the nearest Metro station.

“I was walking in Discovery Gardens when he pulled over and asked for directions,” the woman told the Criminal Court.

She said she gave him directions, but he said he had been lost a long time and asked her to accompany him in the vehicle. “On his insistence, I got into his car but then noticed he drove me somewhere else,” she said.

When she told him he had taken a wrong turn he refused to listen, then started groping her.

“He started telling me I was beautiful and had a fit body, so I became scared and asked him to drop me off but he refused,” recalled the woman.

She said he then started touching himself and tried to force her to do the same. She begged him to let her go but he refused. However, when the car stopped at a light she jumped out and ran off after noting down the licence plate.

She reported the attack to police and the man was arrested ten minutes later, according to court records.

The case was adjourned to November 28.
