Man beaten up and robbed after refusing prostitute, Dubai court hears

Bangladeshi man said he had Dh1,300 stolen from him in the attack by two of his countrymen.

DUBAI // A man who told a compatriot that he did not want to have sex with one of his prostitutes was then assaulted and robbed, Dubai Criminal Court has heard.

Bangladeshis MH, 33, and MA, 30, are charged with assaulting and robbing their countryman, FH, 25, on the night of September 23.

“I was heading home when I saw a man who offered that I have sex with one of his women prostitutes,” said FH. “I said no then he lured me to a poorly lit area where two men attacked me and robbed Dh1,300 I had on me.”

He said that two other men were also there but he could not identify them.

He called police after the men ran with his money and, shortly after his report, the two defendant were arrested and referred to court.

A medical report confirmed the victim was assaulted and left with multiple bruises.

MA denied the charges while his accomplice was not present in court.

The next hearing is on December 28.
