DUBAI // A maid was raped by her employer at his home in Al Barsha, a court was told.
In August, the 32-year-old Emirati called the woman to the bedroom before dragging her to the bed and raping her, Dubai Criminal Court heard.
The Ethiopian woman said she pleaded with her boss to let her go.
“As soon as I got into the bedroom at 4pm, he dragged me and threw me on the bed. He then took off my clothes and raped me. I was crying and trying to stop him, but I couldn’t,” the 21-year-old said.
After the alleged attack, the woman told a maid who worked next door what had happened. The other maid then called the police.
An Emirati police officer who responded to the report said the maid told him she had been raped by her employer.
“We kept knocking on the door to talk to him but he did not respond. We took the maid to the police station,” said the officer.
The defendant denied a charge of rape when he appeared in court.
The next hearing is on December 28.
