DUBAI// A maid stole jewellery worth Dh400,000 from her British employer, heard a Dubai court.

Prosecutors said the maid’s employer, MB, 46, a manager from the UK, discovered her maid, KK, 32, from the Philippines, had ran away on March 3 this year.

MB checked her belongings and discovered four diamond rings, a diamond necklace, diamond earrings and a gold watch were missing.

“I suspected she had stolen them,” said MB in records.

After police were notified, KK was arrested at an apartment in the Al Karama where some of the stolen items were found. She confessed to sending the rest to her home country through a shipping company on the same day she stole them.

She confessed to a theft charge at the Dubai Criminal Court and awaits a verdict on May 18.
