ABU DHABI // An Etihad Airways flight bound for London’s Heathrow Airport on Thursday turned back to Abu Dhabi because of a technical issue.
“Flight EY019 from Abu Dhabi to London Heathrow experienced a technical issue in-flight and the decision was made to return to Abu Dhabi airport, where a replacement aircraft was immediately available to enable the guests to continue their journey to the UK,” a spokesman for the airline said.
The flight had left Abu Dhabi at 8.16am and had been scheduled to arrive at 1.05pm. It arrived in Abu Dhabi at 2.27pm.
The flight was later expected to arrive in London at 8.30pm, according to Etihad’s website flight information.
