Khalifa Bin Zayed Foundation completes charity projects in Socotra

ABU DHABI // Two projects to improve health care and living standards in Socotra have been completed by the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation.

In the first project a hospital’s operating theatres, intensive care units and equipment were upgraded. A laboratory and pharmacy were also built.

In the second initiative seven new water tanks were installed across the Yemeni island to provide safe drinking water.

“Our main area of interest is to ensure full accessibility to clean drinking water and a proper healthcare infrastructure,” said a spokesman for the foundation. “We are constantly looking to channel our funds to countries that are in dire need of our support, assisting people from all walks of life, and attending to generic medical issues.”

The spokesman said additional projects included demolishing a clinic and replacing it with a more modern facility which would include staff accommodation, and a renovated mosque with more space for worshippers.

The foundation was established in 2007 to undertake charitable initiatives in health care and education across the world, without prejudice over race, sex or religion.
