A quadriplegic Syrian refugee has arrived in Abu Dhabi from Beirut for medical treatment at Cleveland Clinic in the capital.

The humanitarian gesture was ordered by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

Khaldoon Sinjab, who is unable to move, took refuge in Lebanon in August 2012. He also suffers respiratory problems as the result of an accident in 1994.

The UAE Embassy in Lebanon, through its Humanitarian and Development Attache Office, followed his case and arranged for him to be moved to Abu Dhabi.

Director of the attache’s office, Musallam Obaid Al Mansouri, said the gesture reflected the UAE’s humanitarian activities reaching out to the needy and disadvantaged, reported Wam, the state news agency.
