SHARJAH // Anyone living in remote areas or with reduced mobility in Sharjah will see improved dental services thanks to new facilities that have been opened. Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, has opened the doors of two new dental clinics, a teaching centre and a mobile unit for dentists. Student dentists will be offered improved learning facilities at the Development of Dental Skills Clinic at the University of Sharjah College of Dental Medicine. And those living in remote areas who may be without transport can now get their oral health checked at a new mobile unit designed specifically to provide dental care in the field for certain patients who may not have access to care elsewhere. It is the latest addition to dental services in the UAE. It follows a free treatment programme for underprivileged children in Abu Dhabi at the International Centre for Dental Excellence, and a screening programme of 4,000 labourers this year under the Oral Hygiene Initiative at the Hamdan bin Mohammed College of Dental Medicine in Dubai. newsdesk@thenational.ae
