DUBAI // Karachi resident Sabera Tapal visited Dubai to seek medical care in tackling hormonal and digestive issues.

The 66-year-old designer said she leads a hectic life. “I’m always stressed, so I wanted to learn how to better deal with stress and my digestive issues,” she said. She visited the DNA Centre for Integrative Medicine, Wellness and Bio Aesthetics in the emirate.

“Doing the DNA and food intolerance testing was very important to me because you are what you eat,” said Ms Tapal.

“I feel my hormones are going a bit haywire and having the ability to look into all these health issues together at one place was very appealing to me.

“I wanted to just get a better handle on my health and I’ve always been interested in alternative medicine, so this was very holistic. There isn’t anything like this in Pakistan or even the region, and Dubai being just one hour and forty minutes from Karachi, this is very easy.”

The appeal of travelling to Dubai means that fewer Pakistanis have to travel farther abroad, according to Ms Tapal.

“Instead of going to England or the US, it’s much easier to go to Dubai on a Pakistani passport,” she said. “Most Pakistanis are familiar with Dubai. It’s a safe environment, which makes it very appealing to go there for this kind of treatment.”
