DUBAI // Dubai Cares joined forces with international partners yesterday to tackle neglected tropical diseases.
The partnership aims to combat diseases that thrive in areas with limited clean water and sanitation and affects more than a billion people. They include river blindness, Guinea worm, lymphatic filariasis, blinding trachoma and sleeping sickness.
The alliance includes international organisations, including the World Health Organisation, private foundations, pharmaceutical companies, governments, research organisations and philanthropic groups.
Dubai Cares joined the alliance during an event in Paris devoted to combating the diseases.
