Inspections begin into Abu Dhabi school meals

Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority will focus on preparation methods and the transport of food so that hygiene standards are met.

ABU DHABI // An inspection campaign will start this month to check the quality and safety of food supplied to school canteens.

In order that hygiene standards are met, Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority will focus on preparation methods and food transportation, Al Ittihad, the Arabic language sister newspaper of The National reported.

Thamer Al Qassimi, director of communications for ADFCA, said the authority has strict guidelines when it comes to school meals.

He said inspectors will be equipped with the latest technology to ensure food is suitable for consumption.

Any foods not fit for human consumption will be destroyed.
