The first phase of a food safety campaign for Abu Dhabi schools was launched by the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority on Monday. The authority plans to train almost 550 female school canteen supervisors as part of the Healthy and Safe Meal project. Ali Yusus Al Saad, acting director of communication and community services, said the one-day intensive training involved teaching staff how to appropriately supervise school canteens according to the health and food safety rules and regulations. He said all canteen managers were to appoint a person in charge of performing various duties relating to maintaining health and food safety practices. Authority experts led workshops followed by a written test which allowed those who passed to received a work permit as school canteen supervisors.
