DUBAI // Patients in Dubai will soon have access to their medical records through a secure online portal once training for 11,000 Dubai Health Authority staff is completed.
So far 1.4 million DHA patient medical records and 112 million transactions have been transferred to the Salama system, with staff training on how to use the system already begun.
“The project will help improve patient care and patient safety and improve risk management and organisational quality,” said Amani Al Jassmi, director of information technology at the DHA.
“Furthermore, it will provide healthcare providers across the DHA network with quick access to patient records.”
The first stage of the three-phase programme will be launch in April at Rashid Hospital, Dermatology Centre, Airport Medical Centres, Dubai Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Centre and Al Barsha Health Centre.
Salama will then be introduced at Dubai Hospital, Dubai Diabetes Centre and all primary healthcare centres in August, and at Latifa Hospital, Hatta Hospital, Thalassaemia Centre, Dubai Gynaecology and Fertility Centre and all DHA medical fitness centres by November.
Doctors will receive integrated patient information, with an overview of their condition delivered at the stroke of a key.
The system will also make possible automatic cross-referencing of medication and allergy interactions, to avoid medication errors that could result in an allergic reaction.
