DUBAI // Young fundraisers are having their charitable efforts recognised by philanthropic organisation Dubai Cares.

The charity is working to improve children’s access to quality primary education in developing countries and has launched a philanthropic award for schools.

It is hoped more than 100 schools across the UAE will participate in the 2016 awards, and is open to all education establishments in the private and public sectors in the seven emirates.

Commendations are split into two categories, recognising individuals and schools.

The Young Philanthropists Award will award the pupil with the most creative fundraising concept, while the Philanthropic School Award will go to the school raising the most money.

Dubai Cares will shortlist the top 10 to 15 concepts, after which the children will present their cases to an executive committee that will select the top three winners.

“This year’s award will no doubt build on the impressive momentum that we established last year and we are working towards enhancing the excellent relationships we already enjoy with schools, their student bodies and parents,” said Amal Al Redha, Dubai Cares director of fundraising.
