ABU DHABI // Updated legal statistics will be available online by the end of the year, the FNC has heard.
Ali Al Nuaimi (Ajman) asked Dr Hadef Al Dhaheri, Minister of Justice, about putting judicial statistics on the net for everyone to access.
Mr Al Nuaimi said the data would lead to better productivity in the judicial system and help educational institutions to teach law students.
Dr Al Dhaheri said he agreed with the member’s comments.
“This question is important and I stand by him on the crucial role of improving the judicial sector,” he told Tuesday’s FNC session.
“The effect of the statistics in showing the capacity at which the law is enforced and providing justice and security shows the importance of the right planning in providing such statistics.”
Dr Al Dhaheri said the use of statistics was crucial in showing the performance of each ministry.
“Statistical databases represent the basic means that support the administrative decisions that determine the future of the judicial system,” he said.
The minister said there was a need to provide accurate statistics and studies to help the country develop.
“A central committee has been formed to coordinate specialised statistics and allow for the handling of certain numbers and issues on a national level,” Dr Al Dhaheri said.
“The committee began meeting and has been requested to provide reports on its progression and future plans by September 2014.”
The statistics will be on the ministry’s official website, he said.
