UAE stands with Arab brothers

Taif, SAUDI ARABIA // The UAE will always be supportive towards brotherly countries, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE Armed Forces, said on Sunday during a visit to Saudi Arabia.

The country, led by President Sheikh Khalifa, would not hesitate to help these countries tackle challenges, he said, according to state news agency Wam.

This stance emanates from their “bonds of brotherhood and common legacy”, Sheikh Mohammed said on his visit to King Fahd Air Base. There, he met UAE forces, including officers, non-commissioned officers and members of the Fifth Squadron, who are participating in the Arab coalition in Operation Restore Hope in Yemen, led by the kingdom.

Sheikh Mohammed said the UAE leadership and people were proud of the country’s forces, commending their national role and sacrifice.

The UAE would continue filling its national duty to lay the foundations of security and stability and to deal with any regional agendas with ambitions in Arab land, Sheikh Mohammed said.

Arab countries were in great need of solidarity to meet their ambitions and challenges, and “we have to build an advanced political, military and development framework to notch our position in the region and the world as well”, he said.

“The nature of the looming challenges and risks requires constant vigilance and readiness to protect our gains and our way of life, as well as setting future plans for the Arabian Gulf to deter those who harbour evil for our region.”

Sheikh Mohammed said the coalition hoped to enter a new phase in the Yemen operation and restore its “return to the political track, which was overthrown by a coup d’etat”.

“Our sole option is to emerge victorious in the test that Yemen is, in favour of the origin of Arab Yemen, and for the region,” he said.
