ABU DHABI // Emergency food aid has been sent to the Libyan city of Al Abraq by the UAE President Sheikh Khalifa and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

The first plane carrying food and other emergency supplies was sent on Sunday morning and will be followed by two more planes at a later date, according to Wam news agency.

The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation established air links between the UAE and Libya’s Al Abraq with three cargo planes carrying food, health rations as well as blankets. The move aims to help the Libyan people and support them as part of the UAE’s humanitarian efforts in the country.
