The rulers of the Emirates have congratulated Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, on his stables' Dubai World Cup win.

On Saturday, Godolphin’s Thunder Snow, trained by Saeed bin Suroor, made history by becoming the first horse to win the Dubai World Cup twice.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, offered his congratulations to his "brother Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid" after the victory.

In a tweet, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed said the victory represented the continued success of the prestigious tournament.

"The UAE will continue to love and support horse racing," he said.

Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, congratulated Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and praised the Dubai World Cup event. He said its ability to capture the world's attention was an indication of the expertise and capabilities of the organisers.

Dr Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, also offered his congratulations to "Bu Rashid".

“We congratulate Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid for Thunder Snow winning the Dubai World Cup, a historic achievement for winning this world cup for the second year in a row,” he said.

On Saturday, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said he was pleased with the organising of the event, in its 24th year.

"The source of my happiness is not the precious cup, or the cash prize, but seeing the happiness of the UAE people, the owners, trainers, jockeys and the fans who keep waiting for this special event year after year," Sheikh Mohammed said.

"I love equestrian sports because every day there is something new in this industry. The passion for equestrian and horses runs in my blood and it is part of our Emirati and Arab heritage," he said.
