UAE places ban on birds from Canada

Dr Rashid Bin Fahad, the Minister, issued the ban in light of recent highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) outbreaks recorded by the World Organisation for Animal Health.

ABU DHABI // The Ministry of Environment and Water has placed a temporary ban on the import of live domestic, ornamental and wild birds - including their products - from Canada.

Dr Rashid Bin Fahad, the Minister, issued the ban in light of recent highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) outbreaks recorded by the World Organisation for Animal Health.

The decision excludes heat treated poultry meat.
