A lasting legacy to the sacrifices of the UAE's fallen heroes has been created after the Martyrs' Family Affairs Office helped launch a new bid to support the nation's humanitarian efforts across the globe.
The office, which provides vital support to the loved ones of martyrs, has teamed up with the Emirates Red Crescent charity to sign a joint agreement with the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court to support the UAE's humanitarian work.
The partnership will involve the ERC managing the revenues of the commemorative gift shop at Wahat Al Karama, the memorial site in Abu Dhabi to soldiers who lost their lives serving their country, and invest them in charitable and humanitarian initiatives outside of the country, such as vaccination campaigns in impoverished parts of the world.

The agreement was signed by Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Director of the Office at the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court, and Dr Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, Secretary-General of the ERC at the headquarters of Wahat Al Karama.
Sheikh Khalifa said the agreement highlighted the leading humanitarian role of the nation’s martyrs and their giving, as well as their sacrifices.
"Our wise leadership wants us to make giving a part of our lives, as it is a culture inherited by children from their grandparents," Dr Al Falahi said.
"Due the desire of the ERC and the office to launch humanitarian initiatives that will highlight the country’s leading role in offering humanitarian assistance, this joint co-operation agreement was signed to establish the humanitarian work between both parties."
