UAE keen to empower women, says Sheikh Mohammed

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, has said the UAE is keen to empower women by encouraging them to assume leadership positions. He praised the achievements of Emirati women in the public sector where they make up 66 per cent of the federal workforce.

Sheikh Mohammed made his remarks at a meeting with Tina Brown, CEO of Women in the World Summit, who is visiting the Middle East for the first time. Also present at the meeting, held at the headquarters of the Government of Dubai Media Office, was the Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan.

Sheikh Mohammed was briefed on the summit’s agenda that aims to find the best methods to support women.

The meeting was also attended by UAE Minister of State, Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimi, Director General of the Government of Dubai Media Office, Mona Al Marri, Group CEO of Tecom Investments, Dr Amina Al Rustamani, and CEO of Dubai Women Establishment, Shamsa Saleh.
