BRASILIA // The UAE and Brazil signed three accords during Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed’s two-day state visit to the South American country this week.
Agreements on air transport services, visa waivers for holders of ordinary passports and reciprocal visa exemptions for holders of diplomatic, special, official and service passports were signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and his Brazilian counterpart, Aloysio Nunes.
“This is my fifth visit to Brazil,” said Sheikh Abdullah.
“On each visit, I bring more hope, ambition and confidence to promote and bolster these relations.”
He said the agreements would help to promote tourism and trade between the countries by easing travel for citizens.
Emirates airline operates 21 weekly flights between the UAE and Brazil and non-oil trade between the two was US$2.5 billion (Dh9.181bn) last year.
The ministers also discussed challenges the countries faced such as extremism, and ways they could work together against them.
Mr Nunes thanked Sheikh Abdullah for the visit that would “help strengthen relations between our countries”.
