In the next two months the Federal Electricity and Water Authority plans to launch a tender for a new desalination plant.
The facility will have a capacity of 30 million gallons per day and cost Dh700 million to build, according to Fewa’s director general, Mohammed Mohammed Saleh.
Mr Saleh also said that Fewa will open its Al Zawra plant in Ajman next month.
It has a capacity of 10 million gallons per day, bringing the production capacity of desalinated water to 90 million gallons a day.
