A strong Egypt ensures a stable Arab world, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, told a visiting Egyptian delegation.

The delegation, made up of prominent cultural, social, media, religious, business, legal and artistic figures, met with Sheikh Mohammed on Sunday at Emirates Palace, Wam, the state news agency, reported.

There they were told of UAE’s determination to stand by Egypt.

“Not because we favour one group over another, but because we firmly believe that strong Egypt is a key stabilizing force in the Arab world and the whole region,” said Sheikh Mohammed, also Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

He said the UAE’s continued support for Egypt would reflect on its stability and economy, noting the deep-rooted ties the late Sheikh Zayed had established with Egypt and the current growth of these ties under the leadership of President Sheikh Khalifa.

He said he was confident that the people of Egypt would overcome all challenges and Egypt would regain its pioneering position both regionally and internationally.

Sheikh Mohammed also stressed the role played by Al Azhar University in spreading the true values of Islam and its importance as a beacon of tolerance and centrism.

Ahmed Al Zind, chairman of Egypt Judges’ Club, who is heading the delegation, thanked Sheikh Mohammed.

“We are one country, one culture and one heart. We will never forget the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s stand by Egypt during the October 1973 war.”

Last month another Egyptian delegation made up of influential figures also met with Sheikh Mohammed.
