Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, today honoured Emirati heroes for their national duty and recognised their efforts to advance humanitarian work overseas.
Notables at the ceremony included Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, Minister of Tolerance, and Sheikh Tahnoon bin Mohammed, Ruler's Representative in Al Ain.
Lt Gen Hamad Al Rumaithi, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, also attended the ceremony at Qasr Al Bahr Majlis in Abu Dhabi.
Sheikh Mohamed hailed the heroic acts by Emiratis in the UAE and overseas. He wished them luck in serving their nation.
He presented the UAE Second Class Medal to Col Ali Al Kaabi, Col Saeed Al Ketbi, Group Capt Saif Al Mazrouie, Col Mohammed Al Sumaiti, Wing Cmdr Salem Al Baloushi and Cmdr Yousef Al Suwaidi.
Sheikh Mohamed decorated Flight Lt Sheikh Mohammed bin Suroor Al Nahyan, Flight Lt Ahmed Al Ketbi and Capt Abdullah Al Dar'i with the UAE Fourth Class Medal.
He honoured martyr Maj Humaid Al Shamsi with the UAE Third Class Medal, which his brother Mohammed received.
Also at the majlis were Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed, chairman of the board of trustees of the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed, chairman of the board of the Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination, Sheikh Issa bin Zayed, Sheikh Suroor bin Mohamed and Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak.
