DUBAI // Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Minister of Foreign Affairs, has responded to a message posted on Twitter by a Dubai police official on the situation in Yemen.

Lt Gen Dahi Khalfan had said earlier this week that if he were in charge of the war, he would “trim the nails of the Houthis (meaning to weaken them) and leave them blowing in the wind”, and “end the war in 10 days”. He also said he would work with former Yemeni leader Ali Abdullah Saleh.

Sheikh Abdullah responded, “Have faith in your country’s leadership, which stands with Saudi in its resolve and hopes and refuses to work with Saleh, who was heedless of the lives of Yemenis and betrayed his neighbours.”

Lt Gen Khalfan later said, “My views on shortening the duration of the war is in the end my personal point of view.”
