ABU DHABI // The seventh batch of National Service recruits began their year-long military training on Saturday.
Thousands of Emirati men, aged between 18 and 30, reported to four training camps across the country where they will undergo physical and military training.
Brig Gen Pilot Sheikh Ahmed bin Tahnoun, chairman of the National and Reserve Service Authority, said all recruits were a source of pride because they answered the call of duty and showed their loyalty to their country and leadership.
The fact that parents were enthusiastic, and proud of their sons who joined national service, reflected their strong support for the development and prosperity of the country, Sheikh Ahmad said.
He said participating in the programme would assure the combat capabilities of those enlisted, according to state news agency Wam.
