Reem Al Hashimi visits UAE troops in Aden

Minister commends soldiers for their courage in defending the Yemeni people

Reem Al Hashimi, Minister of State for International Co-operation, visited the UAE Armed Forces in Aden, the temporary capital of Yemen, on Wednesday.

She passed on the greetings and appreciation of President Sheikh Khalifa, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, for their role in supporting the Yemeni people.

She commended the soldiers for their courage and determination, reported state news agency Wam.

Ms Al Hashimi also met with Emirates Red Crescent, who have been providing humanitarian aid to Yemenis living in the liberated areas of the country.

Her visit comes a few days after the Saudi-led Arab coalition deployed 10,000 additional troops to the rebel held port of Hodeidah.

Military operations have been renewed this week in the vital port city aiming to push back the rebels, but they still hold parts of Hodeidah and the capital Sanaa.
