GAZA // Thousands of food baskets were distributed to poor families in Palestine as part of the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation’s Ramadan food aid programme in the Gaza Strip.

The foundation said that families whose homes were completely destroyed during the recent events in Gaza had also benefitted from the aid programme, reported the state news agency, Wam.

The National Islamic Committee for Development and Social Solidarity, which supervises the programme, expressed gratitude to the UAE for its consistent support to the Palestinian people.

It said the foundation provided humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people in Gaza as part of its efforts to ease their suffering during the severe economic conditions they are experiencing.

The foundation also provided food parcels to more than 1,200 families in Tyre and Yarin in south Lebanon.

It provides assistance to the underprivileged Lebanese, Syrian and Palestinian families in various Lebanese areas.
