Half a million images have been posted to the #MyDubai Instagram account since it launched four months ago.
The year-long project was created by Dubai’s Crown Prince, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, who kickstarted the “social-media autobiography” by uploading a video of himself taking part in extreme sports.
The number of hits over such a short period of time show how the project has sparked UAE residents’ imaginations, the state news agency Wam reported.
“The images and stories demonstrate residents and visitors daily life activities, views and experiences, all of which make up the rich tapestry of this vibrant and cosmopolitan city,” Wam said.
Joining the public in supporting the initiative are several local organisations, government bodies and international brands.
