The UAE’s Mother of the Nation, Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, has paid a special tribute to the mothers of martyrs.

"With deep reverence and gratitude, I am honoured to pay tribute and respect to the mothers of the nation's martyrs, who have demonstrated great competence in raising their children with honourable morals. [They] instilled in them faith, patience, composure and sincere patriotism," she said.

Sheikha Fatima said the people of the UAE and its leaders would always remember the sacrifices of "our children" who laid down their lives for the country.

On the occasion of Mother's Day, Sheikha Fatima appreciated Emirati mothers, mothers of martyrs and all mothers around the world.

She said mothers played a fundamental role in raising children and building the ideal family, which was essential to social cohesion.

They symbolise tenderness, generosity and nobility.

"You are an incubator, educator and guide," Sheikha Fatima said.
