DUBAI// Clothes were distributed to needy children in the highlands of north-west Pakistan by the Red Crescent Authority, as part of the UAE’s ‘Dress One Million’ initiative.

A team from the agency toured Chokran and neighbouring villages, where residents were still feeling the affect of several natural disasters, according to state news agency Wam.

Launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, during Ramadan last year, the campaign aims to dress a million needy children around the world.

About 1,500 children from Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed City in northwest Pakistan, which houses families of the victims of the 2005 earthquake, also received clothes from the agency.

Hamad Abdullah Al Ali, director of the UAE-RCA office in Islamabad, said his team had been thanked by local administrators in Pakistan for giving free clothing to children.
