Kalba Municipality issued 158 warnings and ordered two food establishments to close during inspections in July and August.
There were 889 inspections carried out by the municipality during that period with 50 other outlets fined, said Ahmed Juma Al Hora, director general of the municipality.
He said that the health, food and veterinary sections had visited all markets in Kalba to ensure there were no risks to public health, with 478 carried out by the food control section, 303 by the health control, and 108 by the veterinary section.
