ABU DHABI // Gender equality in education and employment along with involving graduates in scientific, economic, political and social sectors was important, said Sultan Saif Al Samahi, a member of the UAE Federal National Council during the Inter-Parlimentary Union Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians in Geneva on Saturday.

“The UAE believes in gender equality in education, employment, rights and duties and in living life freely and with justice,” said Al Samahi according to Wam, the state news agency.

Education has been the main focus of the country’s development, he said.

“Schools and universities were established and students were sent on scholarship programmes,” he said, adding that the UAE’s resolve to make young people aware of their role in the political process led to the establishment of a youth Children’s Parliament and a Parliament of Schools to promote involvement.
