DUBAI // Indian community representatives will host a grand reception in Dubai for Indian prime minister Narendra Modi, who is scheduled to visit the UAE after independence day celebrations.
The Indian Community Welfare Community (Icwc) said a public reception would be held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium grounds on Tuesday next week.
“An organising committee has been formed to make this a grand success. Transport arrangements are being made from the nearest Metro stations, Dubai Mall and Dubai Internet City for the reception,” said the Icwc.
The Indian communitycan register at www.namoindubai.ae to get an invitation and the latest updates. A Facebook page has also been set up to mark the prime minister’s visit.
It will be the first visit by an Indian prime minister to the UAE in 34 years. The last was by Indira Gandhi in 1981.
Mr Modi will start his visit in Abu Dhabi and will address the Indian community on the second day, in Dubai.
