A traveller enjoyed a slice of good fortune after Dh50,000 was returned to him just minutes before he was due to board a flight from Dubai.

The man was unaware he had even lost the sum of cash, along with 1,000 rupees, while he was at Dubai International Airport.

After the money was handed in to the lost and found department, police set about finding out who it belonged to.

They found footage of the man misplacing the money after combing through CCTV and swiftly identified and located him.

“A report was made by a man who found Dh50,000 and 1,000 rupees, but the amounts had not been reported lost by their owner,” said Brig Mohammed Al Mazroui, director of airport security at Dubai Police.

“The traveller was extremely happy and expressed his gratitude to Dubai Police for their professionalism, vigilance, and the speedy action of returning his money.”

The date the incident occurred was not disclosed by Dubai Police.
