The UAE has helped Jordan to set up a field hospital in Aqaba with more than 200 beds for Covid-19 patients. King Abdullah II of Jordan inaugurated the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Field Hospital on Sunday. The hospital was set up with a generous donation by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. King Abdullah said he was proud of the excellent relations between the UAE and Jordan. He expressed his appreciation for Sheikh Mohamed’s efforts and continuous support. King Abdullah toured the centre, which has 216 beds, including 56 for patients needing intensive care. The hospital is set on a site of 10,000 square metres. It is the fifth Covid-19 field hospital to open in Jordan. In October, the Emirates sent 15 tonnes of medical supplies to help doctors contain Covid-19. Testing kits were among the equipment delivered to 15,000 medical professionals in the country. It was the second aid flight to land in the country, and followed 12.4 tonnes of medical supplies sent to Jordan in June.
