AJMAN // Police in Ajman will increase the number of patrols during Ramadan.
Some 10 patrol vehicles and 15 traffic observers will be stationed throughout the emirate to ensure that traffic rules are observed, particularly before iftar, said Col Ali Al Musaibi, director of the Ajman Police patrol and traffic department.
“We focus on the areas where there are many pedestrians who wander or do shopping before iftar time, which expose them to run-over accidents due to the high speed and recklessness of some motorists,” Col Al Musaibi said.
He urged motorists to drive cautiously, not to speed while rushing home for iftar and not to park their vehicles on roadsides to avoid causing congestion.
Police said recklessness, driving at high speeds and tailgating are the main causes of accidents in Ajman so far this year.
