ABU DHABI // Bicycle lanes in Al Ain, water pipelines in Al Marifa, and road works across the emirate were among the Dh74 million in projects approved by the Abu Dhabi Executive Council on Wednesday.
The council’s infrastructure and environment committee awarded the Abu Dhabi Plan projects in a meeting headed by Falah Al Ahbabi, committee chairman and director general of the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council.
The projects include construction of 23 kilometres of bicycle track in the Al Bateen area of Al Ain, at a cost of Dh17 million.
Irrigation, light and landscape work was approved for roads in Yas Island (Dh13.2m) and Al Ain (Dh11.3m), and along the Abu Dhabi-Sweihan motorway (Dh10.2m).
The committee also approved two projects for Al Mirfa city in Al Dhafra Region. These included a Dh9.3m water pipeline connected to a production plant and the transport of equipment from the city’s old power station to its new one, at a cost of Dh2.5m.
