Girl, 16, in serious condition after falling from fourth floor flat in Sharjah

SHARJAH / A 16-year-old girl is in a critical condition in hospital after falling from her fourth floor apartment in Sharjah.

The Arab teenager fell from the building in the Al Buheira neighbourhood, police have said.

Police and emergency crews found her on the ground bleeding and suffering from severe injuries. She was taken to Kuwait hospital for treatment.

Issa Al Moalem, assistant director at Kuwait hospital, said the girl suffered multiple fractures and injuries in the fall. Her spine was also fractured.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident, which happened on July 15.

The emirate has seen several incidents of children falling from high rise buildingss. In June, a four-year-old boy fell to his death from the 18th floor of an apartment building in Al Khan.
