Five people accused of robberies at Sharjah shops have been linked to the thefts from 50 cars during Ramadan, police said yesterday.

The five are accused of targeting cars left unlocked near mosques during prayer times in the holy month.

Sharjah police received a number of complaints from across the city during Ramadan about thefts from cars of mobile phones, wallets, money, credit cards and other valuable items.

The five remained at large until forensic evidence from the robberies at the shops linked them to the previous crimes.
