A hypermarket in Fujairah was evacuated after a fire broke out in a restaurant inside the building.
Fire crews were called out to Sajidah Hypermarket shortly after 10am on Tuesday to tackle the blaze.
Fujairah Civil Defence officers swiftly discovered the fire had started in Tatukada restaurant on the first floor of the complex.
About 100 people were forced to leave the building while crews extinguished the fire, sparked by a fault with a suction fan inside the eatery.
Officials said nobody was injured during the incident.
Colonel Khaled Al Hamoudi, deputy director of Fujairah Civil Defence, stressed the importance of smoke detectors being installed in all homes and businesses.
