Four men fought over British woman at Atlantis hotel, Dubai court hears

DUBAI// Four men have been charged with assault after a fight over a woman at a beach party at the Atlantis, The Palm hotel.

The Dubai Criminal Court heard that brothers, O M, 20 and A M, 23, from Syria, and their friend M N, 28, from Egypt, attacked Syrian A A, 31, on November 9 last year after he began speaking to the British woman.

A A suffered an injury to his left eye, which constituted a 3 per cent permanent disability.

In the court records, A A said he had been at an event on the hotel’s Nasimi Beach when he spotted the woman just before 2am.

“I greeted her and then the two brothers came and asked me to leave,” A A said.

He claimed that one of the brothers shoved him in the shoulder, but he refused to leave. At this point, M N became involved in the argument and they all assaulted him. He said that security guards broke up the fight.

All four men were arrested and referred to the port’s police station, where they were all charged with assault.

The records did not include the testimonies of other defendants or witnesses.

A A was not present in court on Sunday to enter a plea, while the rest of the defendants appeared and denied the charges. A verdict will be delivered on August 31.
