DUBAI // An Emirates Airline flight attendant was sexually assaulted by a passenger after she allowed him to take a selfie with her, the Dubai Criminal Court was told.
The 42-year-old Tanzanian denied a charge of sexual assault when he appeared in court and was granted bail.
On April 22 this year the American air hostess, 25, reported the incident to police after the flight from Dar es Salaam landed in Dubai.
She told prosecutors that the defendant asked for a picture with her and hugged her as they posed for the shot. She said her supervisor screamed at the man for hugging her.
“He asked me again for a picture, I said OK. When I stood next to him for the shot, he hugged me and kissed my neck,” said the woman, who then pushed him away.
Police said the man confessed during questioning on April 23. However, in court he denied sexually assaulting the attendant.
The next hearing will be on July 3.
