Al Ain Police have arrested five people for stealing Dh100,000 from a bank customer who had left the sum in his car while shopping.
Col Mohammed Al Rashidi, head of the Al Ain Police Directorate, said that police received a complaint about the car break-in and a taskforce was formed.
Officers were able to identify and arrest the suspects, all of Arab descent. The suspects confessed that they had watched the victim leave the bank and followed him until he parked his car, leaving the cash inside the vehicle.
When the victim returned, the car window was broken and the money inside was gone.
Col Al Rashidi urged the public to exercise caution when carrying money and avoid leaving valuables unattended.
