A fire broke out on Sunday morning at the site of a tower being built near Dubai Mall.
Emergency crews were sent to Fountain Views just after dawn and the blaze had been brought under control by 7.30am, Dubai Media Office said.
Four people were rescued from the site and an investigation into the cause is under way.
Dubai Civil Defence said dampening operations were continuing and ambulance crews were on site.
Roads leading to MBR Boulevard from Cinema Crossroads were closed and traffic was been diverted to the flyover. Interchange 7 leading to Burj Khalifa was closed and cars were redirected to Fashion Parking in The Dubai Mall. There were no reports of injuries.
A Civil Defence Defence spokeswoman said the operations room received a call about the fire at 5.35am.
“The fire erupted in the parking lot of the building starting on the fifth floor and spreading to the seventh floor,” she said.
“The blaze started where there was building material.”
The four people who were trapped in the building were rescued by civil defence and police.
“All three were treated on the scene and transported to hospital. They are in good condition,” the spokeswoman said.
Civil Defence said the situation was under control by noon.
Lt Col Ahmed Burqibah, deputy director of Search and Rescue at Dubai Police, described the rescue of the trapped men.
He said: “There was one man, who was on the 16th floor, that was suffering from smoke inhalation, so we brought him down first. He was a priority,” he said. “He was treated on the scene and transported to hospital. It was a minor injury and he is good condition now.
“The other three, with whom we had constant communication, were on the sixth floor of the building.”
Lt Col Burqibah said the three men were instructed to take the stairs to the 34th floor, where police and fire-fighters guided them down through a safe route.
“We still don’t know the exact reason behind the fire, but that is up to the experts to determine, and investigations are under way,” he said. “Thank God no one was seriously injured. We are ready for any incident around the clock, and this is our duty towards our citizens and residents.”
Eight fire stations took part in putting out the blaze: Al Shuhada, Al Karama, Al Rashidiya, Al Quoz, Port Saeed, Al Barsha, and Al Hamriya. The site is near the 63-storey The Address Downtown Dubai tower that was heavily damaged in a fire on New Year’s Eve 2015.
