ABU DHABI // Etihad Airways has reached an Emiratisation milestone with its 2,000th national member of staff.

The latest addition, Mohamed Al Mansoori, 30, from Abu Dhabi, joined the airline’s human resources team as senior manager in people reward and policy.

Mr Al Mansoori said: “I am thrilled to be the 2,000th Emirati and be part of this world-class airline. It is inspiring to join an organisation that puts so much weight on hiring and developing UAE nationals to work in this highly productive multicultural environment, offering me the opportunity to work alongside people from more than 144 nationalities.”

Mr Al Mansoori is a graduate of the University of Hull in the UK, and previously had senior roles with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company.

Having worked in the UAE’s oil and gas industry for more than six years, he gained extensive experience in the areas of people reward policies and international remuneration packages.

Ray Gammell, the airline’s chief people and performance officer, said: “We are committed to growing and developing a highly qualified cadre of UAE nationals and empowering them to play an even greater role in our business.

“We have made huge strides, and are looking forward to supporting even more UAE nationals ... as we embark on our plans to welcome more than 6,000 UAE nationals in the airline by 2020.”

Etihad Airways employs UAE nationals across all operations. Emiratis are the top nationality group in the airline as well as at manager and higher management levels.
