DUBAI // Emirates Red Crescent has given out 2,000 relief and food parcels to families in Yemen.
The relief was given out in Al Shamaytayn district, south of Taiz, the city which has been subject to a blockade that has hampered supplies since end of last year.
The number of displaced people who have moved to the district reached about 48,442 out of a total of 324,602 displaced across the country, and the number of displaced people continues to rise due to the continuing blockade of Taiz.
The Houthi rebels have refused to lift the blockade on Taiz, despite promises to open the western passageway leading to the province of Hodeidah.
The UAE is working as part of the Arab coalition countries fighting the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen, whose people are facing numerous humanitarian challenges.
