ABU DHABI // The Social Family Council was launched by the Mother of the Nation, Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, on Saturday to engage families as a key strategic partner in the realisation of the goals of sustainable social development in Abu Dhabi.

Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, urged all ministries, authorities, institutions and individuals across the country to work towards containing and giving care to the children, as well as recognising their problems.

While presiding over the FDF’s second meeting for 2015, Sheikha Fatima also called for supervising children’s use of modern technology, especially social media networks, which she said represent a danger that affects their interaction and communication with their families.

“The family is the cornerstone of the society and one of the pillars of its success, progress and stability of the family and the UAE family is able to address all new challenges that affect family ties and children’s minds,” said Sheikha Fatima.
